Ethernet Terminals

 

Ethernet Terminal units provide operator panel capabilities and point of use I/O with a high speed link to a PC. They are designed to be a flexible, high performance, low cost multiple I/O subsystem for PC based, data acquisition and control systems.

Ethernet Terminals are modular in design. The base snaps onto any of a variety of available panels which can, be panel mounted.

The base unit has a built in Ethernet port, as well as, an RS232 port. The Ethernet port is the interface to the larger system. The RS232 port is provided for general purpose communications (as defined by customer’s application program, e.g. for connection to balance).

The Ethernet port provides indications for good Ethernet link connection and Ethernet access by the base processor, as well as, transmit and receive indicators.

Ethernet Terminals can be placed at the point of interface, anywhere within a building. They will communicate over an Ethernet connection back to a host PC. A system can easily incorporate from one to 99 Ethernet Terminals.

The link operates a data rate of 10MBPS (10,000,000 bits per second). At that rate, even a large system transfers all of the necessary data from host to E.T., and from E.T. to host in a matter of milliseconds. With this type of communications, it is possible to monitor and control a large system over hundreds of feet from a central PC in real time.
