HEMMING

The hemming module is used to control the process of converting finished fabric into garments or bed linen.

There are a number of basic features in the hemming module to control this process, and they are the creation of cutting lists, the issuing of fabric, accessories and packaging and bundle/line tracking.

Cutting lists are production documents issued to the hemming room that control the entire hemming process. All work performed in the hemming room is related to a cutting list. The cutting list describes what needs to be made, the quantity required, what must be issued (based on the bill of materials) and the steps required to produce the final product.

Once fabric is cut, it may be grouped into bundles for movement through the hemming room. These bundles may be moved across many machines in a group or line for processing. For instance, a garment order for 10,000 units will not be hemmed on a single sewing machine. Instead it may be hemmed in bundles of 100 across 100 sewing machines. Each bundle is individually numbered and the completion time for each bundle is tracked.

Accessories and packaging such as press studs, zippers, hangers, care labels, cardboard inserts, swing tags and labelling are issued to the various lines in accordance with the requirements of the cutting list.

As each bundle is completed it is recorded against the cutting list and transferred to the warehouse.

The hemming module supports the creation of sets of products, for example top and pants combinations, or pillowcase and sheet sets. Sets are only completed when the individual components are completed and incomplete sets can be tracked and recorded.

Various reporting tools can provide information on efficiency at product level, operator level or line level with equal ease.

The system supports integration to many kinds of automation machinery and is only restricted by the machinery itself.
