FINAL INSPECTION
Final inspection can be performed in either a simple or complex manner.
The level of inspection you require determines what needs to occur during the inspection process.
The inspection process may occur “online” or “offline”. Online inspection is when fabric is examined
while it is being processed on the last machine in the process path. Offline inspection is when fabric
is completed and then taken to specialised inspection tables for examination.
At a minimum, finished fabric is examined visually for faults and each finished roll is given a grading.
For a more complex inspection process Arel provides a graphical inspection tool, linked to inspection
tables, tru-meter counters and load cells (for weight). Each roll can have multiple fault details recorded
(point faults and running faults) and can be split into separate rolls if required. Rolls can be weighed
and compared to acceptable weight tolerances (useful for fleece or coated fabrics) and rules may be
setup for automatic grading based on faults and weights.
For more information please see the inspection tool here.
Fabric that is found to be faulty may be returned to the converting or finishing departments for
further processing.
Integration to 3rd party automated inspection machines (such as shade variation analysers or automated
fault finders) is possible.
