LOOM MONITORING & MANAGEMENT
The Arel Loom Monitoring and Management system is a combination of hardware
and software that provides for both direct machine monitoring through the
use of PLC's and weave room management through the use of RF based
terminals to monitor weaver activities and doffing information.
Loom monitor is provided through interaction with PLCs directly attached to
the looms in the weave room. These can either be the controllers that were
provided with the looms or small and inexpensive monitoring PLCs provided
by Arel.
Information from each loom is transferred to a central location where it is
collated and gathered in real time into a central database. This can then
be integrated directly into the Atoms system or maintained in a
"standalone" mode.
Loom efficiency, pick rates, doffing lengths and other information can all
be gathered automatically through the controllers.
WEAVE ROOM MANAGEMENT
Weaver activities may be controlled through the use of RF terminals
deployed to each weaver in the weave room. The RF units are Windows CE
based devices and provide information on weave room patrol maps, the
fabrics being woven on each loom, real time updates of loom status (such as
loom stops), and the order in which looms should be doffed based on
expected piece completion times.
Weavers can also interact with the system by providing extra information on
the reason for stoppages, requesting maintenance crews for loom repairs and
for examining their own personal efficiency information.
This system is just as applicable to knit rooms and circular, flat or warp
knitting machines as it is to weaving rooms and looms.
