YARN PROCESSING

The yarn processing module can be either simple or complex depending on what you do with yarn.

If all you do with yarn is purchase it from an external supplier and issue it to weaving or knitting then your yarn module is quite simple and focuses on lot management and stock control.

From a stock management perspective the yarn is stored in locations and lots. A single lot can be stored across multiple locations and quarantine locations can be used for purchased yarn that has yet to undergo QA verification. Yarn lots are maintained using an internal yarn lot number and are cross referenced against the supplier's lot number for full backward traceability.

The system also supports the transfer of your yarn to external companies for commission processing (dyeing, twisting, etc) and various control functions are in place to ensure that any yarn loss at the external suppliers is tracked.

If you also perform yarn dyeing, or twisting and doubling then the yarn module will also allow you to create production orders for yarn processing, and to be able to receipt produced yarn back into the yarn warehouse.

Yarn used in later processing can be allocated (reserved) for particular production orders thereby preventing accidental use of yarn by other orders.

All yarn issued to production can be returned back to yarn storage if it us unused.
